“ProSfeeroume” at the Praksis Accommodation Centre for Unaccompanied Minors
Athens, 19 December 2017– As part of the social initiative “prosfeeroume”, a delegation from the Hellenic Association of Pharmaceutical Companies (SFEE) visited the NGO Praksis and delivered financial support for the Accommodation Centre for Unaccompanied Minors in Ano Petralona. The money was raised through the 35th Authentic Classical Marathon of Athens, in which SFEE’s running team participated as athletes and supporters of the important work being done by Praksis. The Centre, which began operating in 2015, currently hosts 25 minors aged 13 to 17. The representatives of SFEE offered sweets and board games to the Centre’s young guests and also visited the Polyclinic and the Day Centre of Praksis.
On this occasion, the President of SFEE, Mr. Pascal Apostolides, stated: “This initiative is just a small token of social solidarity. During the years of the crisis, we have been doing out best to help people in need and to make an active contribution to building a society that respects its citizens and stands with them. In achieving this goal, the work of Praksis is not only significant; it is invaluable. Especially on these holy days of Christmas, the smile and love with which the children welcomed us is indeed the best and most optimistic message for the new year.”
The President of Praksis, Mr. Alexis Margalias, stated: “This centre may be only a small relief for the thousands of children waiting to be accommodated in our country, but on a symbolic level it is an important initiative, and initiatives like this contribute to social solidarity and awareness. We thank SFEE for its generous offer, and we are happy to see that the care and protection of unaccompanied minors brings together all those who are able to give.”
