SfEE together with the Hellenic Red Cross supports society
in the fight against the pandemic

Athens, 31 March 2021.– The Hellenic Association of Pharmaceutical Companies (SfEE) continues its active contribution to the national effort to address the COVID-19 health crisis. In the context of its social responsibility initiative “proSfEEroume”, SfEE covered the cost of consumables for mass rapid COVID-19 tests carried out at the mobile units of the Hellenic Red Cross (HRC).

HRC teams will be administering rapid COVID-19 tests to all the staff of the courts of justice and land registries across Attica, some 4,500 people (judicial and prosecutorial officers, lawyers and other staff), at the request of the Ministry of Justice. This project is of utmost importance for the safety of workers in jobs requiring physical presence at the workplace and in most cases interaction with the public, which implies their daily exposure to the risk of contracting the virus.

Against this background, on Monday, 29 March, a SfEE delegation visited the HRC central storage facilities in Athens and delivered the supplies to HRC President Dr Antonios Avgerinos. .

HRC President, Dr. Antonios Avgerinos, stated on this occasion: “The Hellenic Red Cross, in the context of its far-reaching voluntary humanitarian activity, joins forces with SfEE in initiatives aimed to support social cohesion and solidarity. We would like to warmly thank SfEE for sending us significant quantities of personal protective equipment and consumables to be used by healthcare professionals of the HRC in the mass rapid antigen tests to be carried out at courthouse premises in Attica everyday”.

SfEE General Manager, Mr. Michalis Himonas, noted: “Rapid tests for COVID-19 are essential for controlling the spread of the coronavirus. On our part, we are committed to consistently and responsibly support the very important work that the HRC has being doing and to put all our efforts into the fight against the pandemic.”

This initiative is part of a broader set of activities jointly implemented by the Hellenic Association of Pharmaceutical Companies (SfEE) and the Hellenic Red Cross (HRC), with a view to meeting needs in pharmaceuticals, medical supplies and essential items of children and other vulnerable social groups hosted at Social Care Structures and Centres. It is worth noting that SfEE and its member companies have contributed to the national effort to address the pandemic through significant donations of ICU equipment and consumables to the Ministry of Health and hospitals. Still, in these critical times, SfEE and its member companies do not forget the chronically ill and the vulnerable groups of the population and continue their donations across the country.
