The social initiative “proSfEEroume” at the Unaccompanied Children Hospitality Camps of the Hellenic Red Cross in the City Center

Αthens, February 21,2020. – In the framework of the social network initiative “proSfEEroume”  for the support of children and vulnerable population groups in need, a team from the Hellenic Association of Pharmaceutical Companies (SFEE) paid a visit yesterday, Thursday, February 20, 2020, to the Athens Unaccompanied Children Camps of the Hellenic Red Cross.

This initiative is part of a broader action plan undertaken jointly by the Hellenic Association of Pharmaceutical Companies (SFEE) and the Hellenic Red Cross, with a view to covering the needs in medicines, medical material and essentials of the children and other vulnerable social groups hosted in Structures and Social Care Centres.

There are currently ninety-four (94) unaccompanied minors, adolescents and pre-adolescents, hosted in the Athens Unaccompanied Children Camps of the Hellenic Red Cross. These minors are found in Greece without any parent, adult family member or custodian who would be in charge of them, as stipulated by law. The Hellenic Red Cross, within the framework of its support services, aims not only at securing safe conditions for their lives but also at covering their socio-economic needs, with a view to facilitating their smooth integration into Greek society.

The SFEE team provided pharmaceutical material and consumables for the coverage of the needs of the hosted unaccompanied minors while a trainer – Nurse of the H.R.C. gave them first aid lessons and instructions.

Heading the H.R.C. mission was the President, Dr. Antonios Avgerinos, escorted by the H.R.C. Head of the Social Care Sector, Mme Areti Kentistou. SFEE was represented by its General Manager, Mr. Michael Himonas and the Association’s Communication Director, Mme Maria Leontari, who have had the opportunity, on the occasion of the visit, to take a tour around the Camp Installations.

The President of H.R.C. Dr. Antonios Avgerinos made the following statement: «The SFEE social initiative “proSfEEroume” pursues its trip onto another vulnerable group, the unaccompanied minors, giving us great joy and grounds for optimism. The smiles on the faces of children we visited today suffice for us to make us overcome every possible obstacle and pursue our work seamlessly.

The SFEE General Manager, Mr. Michael Himonas mentioned: «Especially under the current circumstances, given our common struggle for the support of patients and fellow humans in need, we in SFEE consider the works and deeds of the H.R.C. extremely important. The H.R.C. expresses the ideas and values we all embrace, in SFEE and the pharmaceutical sector at large, and its feats constitute a role model for us all. We are proud walking side by side ever since 2016».
